Give Your Home a Clean Sweep

As we start to see signs of the pandemic receding, there’s an urge to get up and out and change things for the better. This can — and should — start right in your own home. Your haven during lockdown could surely benefit from a bit of reinvention! Whether you’re into small fixes or total makeovers, you can start getting some super-trendy design ideas by visiting Celebrity Furnishings.

Let The Sunshine In

Open your blinds and windows, air out your house, and let the sunshine in! According to Psychology Today, sunshine really can boost your mood. Wash your windows inside and out, and you’ll be amazed at how bright and cheerful the interior feels. While you’re at it, add some window boxes or flowering plants and trees outside your windows as a way to bring the outside in. Plant perennials, herbs, or anything else that feels cheerful and bright.

Also, consider investing in an air purifier to keep that freshness long-term. Many household products, including candles and air fresheners, just mask odors with chemicals. A purifier, on the other hand, will eliminate them.

Clean Things Up

Think of “pandemic cleaning” as the new “spring cleaning.” Go through your house and scrub from top to bottom, including baseboards and appliances. Change your air filters, launder curtains, wipe blinds, and steam-clean carpets and tile floors. Go below the surface and commit to cleaning out junk drawers and closets, garages, and basements. Anything you don’t want or need, donate, recycle, or toss. Your clean-up can extend to the outside of your home. as well. Clean gutters, trim trees and bushes, and make exterior repairs as necessary. Plant something new as a way to look toward the future.

Make a Personal Inventory

Far too many of us replaced regular work attire and clothing with zippers and buttons in favor of pandemic stretchy pants. According to Who What Wear, it’s time to go through your closets and dressers and start eliminating that movie-binging wardrobe. Cleaning kitchen cupboards and pantries can also help you refresh — it’s past time to donate or dispose of the multiple boxes and bags of macaroni, rice, beans, and freezer entrees you bought a year ago. Once you make room, fill your larder with fresh, whole foods and make a commitment to start moving more and eating less. You might even be able to turn that makeshift home office into an exercise room!

Treat Your House

For better or worse, your house has been your retreat for the past year. Give it a bit of an interior facelift to get yourself back into a pre-pandemic state of mind. Move furniture around into different configurations (or get fun, new pieces), invest in a beautiful new art piece, and paint or wallpaper a space to give it a whole new look and feel. Bold, new peel-and-stick wallpaper, in particular, can instantly change the vibe of a space. You can even design your own wallpaper and print it on demand — you’ll never have to worry about a design you love being discontinued or out of stock, and you’ll have a completely unique showroom that’s all your own.

The pandemic made hermits of just about everyone. Now that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, it’s time to start taking a forward focus and reinvent both ourselves and our living spaces.
